It’s probably not actually that much cheaper. I was just watching a documentary on Amazon Prime (Scotch: A Golden Dream – pretty good, i’d probably recommend it), and the distillery owners were complaining because you can buy the same whiskey at a liquor store in other countries for 40 pounds less than what they can sell it for in the actual distillery store on-site! There is no limit to how much alcohol you can bring back under Federal law. You might have to pay a tax if you bring back more than a liter. “Our current approach to school funding at the federal, state, and local level underfunds our schools and results in many students from low-income backgrounds receiving less funding,” Warren wrote. “My plan makes a historic new federal investment in public schools – and pushes both the federal government and state governments to dedicate more resources to the schools and students that need them most.”

Here’s the problem I have with totalitarian shits like Warren. They bear no consequences when their imposition of their will on others produces failure. Other people’s lives will be made significantly worse by stopping charter schools (what she’s after). Maybe, just maybe, that could be justified if it produced favorable results. But, these sorts of things don’t produce favorable results. Everybody knows the consequence of her policies will be more money for the teachers’ unions, poor kids trapped in failing public schools, a bunch of money transferred to “educational consultants”, and a public education system that continues to suck even more every day. And what will happen to Elizabeth Warren, if she were to get elected and impose this? Nothing.
Honestly, I wish I could wave a magic wand and impose a rule that, any time the government passes a new law or rule, the rule’s opponents get to dictate a set of consequences for failure.

The income needed to exit the bottom 99% of U.S. taxpayers hit $515,371 in 2017, according to Internal Revenue Service data released this week. That’s up 7.2% from a year earlier, even after adjusting for inflation.

Considering the “impeachment process” now consists of nothing more than press conferences and ordinary committee hearings, and is not authorized by a single vote at either the House or committee level, its fair to say that the Democrats haven’t even started anything, much less identified a crime that he may have committed that they are going to investigate.
I think Pelosi is looking at his polling, seeing that nothing they have done so far has made a dent, and is very reluctant to roll the dice with a full-blown formal impeachment process, especially since (mixed metaphor alert) she is currently looking at a hand that might get to one pair if her next draw goes well. This is where the polarization of the country bites the Dems in the ass – impeachment doesn’t poll well at all in swing demographics and districts. Hi everyone! Just popping in with a quick update – Home from the hospital so at least one fire is out. Still have lots of diagnostics and at least one surgery in the near future and feel pretty damn weak. I probably won’t be snarking much because of lifestyle choices that have been thrust upon me (No beer and no ciggies make Festus something, something…) but I’ll try to get healthy as soon as I can so I can rejoin you merry bunch.
